Sailor Qualifications:

Every seafarer who works on commercial vessels, fishing vessels, river and lake vessels must have expertise or skill qualifications in accordance with government regulations1.
This qualification does not apply to seafarers working on motor yachts, sailing vessels, motor vessels less than GT 35, private yachts not used for business, and special vessels.

Maritime Certificate:
Each crew member must have a maritime certificate which includes expertise and skills. Types of maritime certificates include:
  • Seafaring Skills Certificate (Nautics, Mechanical Engineering, Radio Electronics).
  • Basic Seaman Skills Certificate1.




Maritime and Fisheries Human Resources Development:

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) of the Republic of Indonesia developed the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) in the maritime and fisheries sector.
The aim is to prepare competent human resources to manage the wealth of marine and fisheries resources in Indonesia2.
So, human resource management in the maritime sector plays a key role in ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of ships as well as the sustainability of the maritime industry.
